Maryland Concealed (Wear & Carry) Permit
As per ruling of the US Supreme Court, Maryland now allows citizens to apply for a wear and carry permit. There is a tremendous responsibility associated with this and those seeking the permit must take 16 hours of training and pass a certification test. The training offered by Firearm Instructor Services is approved by the Maryland State Police. The classroom portion is presented online with Zoom in very small groups of 4 sessions each, 4 hours long. Our Approach To HQL Training
The Handgun Qualification License (HQL) training taught by Firearm Instruction Services covers the 4-hour Maryland State-required topics in a fluid and engaging way. During the required 4 hour process, your questions will be given thoughtful and individual responses. The course is strongly committed to teaching essential concepts such as: Firearm purchasing procedures, handling safety, ownership responsibilities, proper storage, transportation laws, conflict avoidance, permissible levels of force, use of deadly force, police and legal investigations after a shooting or self-defense situation, -and many more topics.
Wear & Carry Recertification and Military Training
Permit holders looking to recertify their Maryland Wear & Carry can sign-up directly or, send email for more information. Military members who are exempt from Wear/Carry training are encouraged to take the recertification course to learn the pitfalls of concealed carry that could easily lead to assault or attempted murder charges. Since most military branches no longer provide handgun instruction in boot-camp, enrollment in the full certification course is highly recommended. Military members can call and receive a 10% discount.
Why Us?
Most certified training courses are presented in a single session and are available at fixed times -typically on weekends. Firearms Instructor Services is certified by the Maryland State Police and offers custom training outside of normal business or weekday hours. Classes can be arranged and split into sections to accommodate your needs. Upon completion of the course, help will be provided if-necessary to navigate the Maryland State Police application process. Students can arrange for training, coaching and help with firearms selection before the range qualification visit. The live-fire range visit is very organized and allows the student ample time to adapt to the range environment.

Standard Online Classes
Standard live-instructor 4-hour HQL online courses are delivered via Zoom. The online sessions take brief breaks every 45 minutes. Friends or family members can attend.
